Il Sifrap nasce come estensione del progetto IFFI (Inventario dei Fenomeni Franosi in Italia), sviluppato tra il 2002 ed il 2004, nonché come sviluppo dell\u2019ultraventennale patrimonio di conoscenze del Centro Regionale per le Ricerche Territoriali e Geologiche (già parte della Direzione Regionale Servizi Tecnici di Prevenzione) nel campo dei fenomeni franosi.    Il Sifrap è curato da un gruppo di funzionari tecnici all\u2019interno del Centro per le Ricerche Territoriali e Geologiche di Arpa Piemonte ed i suoi obiettivi sono essenzialmente quelli di integrare, sviluppare ed aggiornare costantemente la base dati relativa all\u2019inventario dei fenomeni franosi in Piemonte e rendere una sempre maggiore percentuale dei dati di cui sopra disponibili in rete tramite servizio WebGIS. La procedura tecnica Arpa U.RP.T087 \u201cSistema informativo dei fenomeni franosi in Piemonte (SIFRAP)\u201d descrive le procedure del Sifrap e illustra anche le relazioni dello stesso con il PAI (Piano stralcio per l\u2019Assetto Idrogeologico).
